January 15, 2008,Guangzhou, China—River County is “rocking the country” as they say in their latest CD in Indiana, USA, but this time, in China.
Their five-concert tour in the southern part of China just above Hong Kong, promises to shake up the Chinese population a bit with the groups own version of country rock.
Cathy Chen and her crew of Sound Of Country camera pros are filming the whole thing for a new music video coming up soon on TV around the world.
Beijing, China—Rumors spread last summer of Sound Of Country going to CCTV on something called a new “English” channel, which has yet to be defined.
According to Cathy Chen, CEO of First Sound Media, the company in Shanghai that produces Sound Of Country for the OTV Music Channel, said the weekly show is still under consideration by CCTV at this moment for 2008 programming, but she’s not sure which CCTV channel it will land on. Sound Of Country is presently in Chinese with American music in English with Chinese subtitles.
When asked if an English version of the show might appear soon, Cathy just smiled. “Anything’s possible in China right now. Let’s just wait and see how the big guys want to handle programming this year, the year of the Olympics. Negotiations are volatile, and no one seems to know exactly what direction they’re heading right now.”
