About Us

First Sound Media Productions started out as a radio show way back around 1999, called The Sound of Country with Ying Ying.  Ying Ying is actually Ms. Chen Ying of Shanghai, China.  All of her fans, and there are millions of them, lovingly call her Ying Ying.  To Americans and the rest of the Western world, she's known as Cathy Chen.  As a matter of fact, that's how the Country Music Association knows her, as she is the only member of the CMA in China.

It wasn't long until the industrious little Ying Ying decided to break into television with a video music show of the same name.  In 2001 Sound Of Country began as part of the music magazine show, SOSA Magazine, with Zhou Jin (pronounced, Jo Jean), a super-popular, and soon to be even more popular VJ in Shanghai.

Later that year, Cathy took a crew to Nashville, her first trip to America, to film the country music stars and interview them for China.  Fearlessly, the cute little Chinese girl wandered around the city and won the hearts of all the country singers and the management of the CMA.  She interviewed such stars as Crystal Gayle and Keith Urban.  She found her way over to Music Circle and introduced herself to the all the record labels, like RCA, Warner Brothers, Arista, Mercury, Universal, EMI, and many others.  They were all amazed at this little Chinese girl who seemed to know everything about country music.

The next year, SOSA Magazine was going out of business all except the one very successful show, Sound Of Country (SOC).  Cathy was offered a chance to buy out the company, but she refused, choosing to form her own privately held corporation in China, and call it (in English) First Sound Media Productions, Ltd.  The rest is history.

Later, Cathy met a country music radio DJ from Texas, Ted Bailey, who decided to join forces with First Sound and became the English voice on the radio show and the co-host of the TV show.  Ted is now the General Manager of WWW.FirstSoundMedia.com, the Website, and Marketing Manager for FSMP America.

In the Summer of 2006, First Sound Media Productions, Inc. will begin operations in America.  Now, the services will be more readily available to companies there just as they presently are in China.
